New Media posting
The San Angelo Standard-Times is a Scripps daily newspaper and Internet media outlet that has served San Angelo and west Texas since 1884.
We’re looking for a multimedia journalist (MMJ) with the ability to craft a compelling story in words as well as in pictures. The MMJ is more than a reporter: the MMJ gathers facts as they happen or after the event, and weaves those facts into an accurate and compelling story. The MMJ is aware of the immediacy of web-first, on-demand journalism and tells these stories on various platforms, including print, online and mobile. The successful MMJ will be capable not only of writing, but of providing still photos or video coverage as circumstances dictate.

Great work everyone! I’ve been happy to see the progress made on stories, the planning from the photo and design team and the truly phenomenal job done by the sales team. You have all exceeded my expectations.
In keeping with the fluid nature of the class, here’s the plan for Wednesday:
1. Sherry will talk about the importance of advertising in the magazine business: goals and norms.
Break into beginning and advanced groups.
2. Sherry will continue to work with advanced students on production and editing, while I teach an introduction to InDesign and PhotoShop for beginning students with the basics of ad design and image editing using stock images.
3. Teams will meet to accomplish goals for the day and prepare to report progress on work at 11:30.
Remember: Thursday is the deadline for holding ad space–be sure to wrap up any sales leads ASAP.
